Stella

Stella- Fairy of the Sun and The Moon

Stella is the second Winx fairy to ever appear in the show and the first one to fight villains while in her iconic Magic Winx fairy form. During seasons 1 – 4, she is the fairy of the Sun and Moon. Afterwards, she is referred to as the fairy of the shining Sun. She is the princess of Solaria and her bonded pixie is Amore, the minifairy of love. (according to a version of the official Winx Club website from 2009)

Stella grew up in the royal court of Solaria. Unlike Aisha, she used to break the rules that were being forced upon her. As a child, she discovered a secret tunnel which allowed her to go to parties downtown once she was older. Her mother and father are queen Luna and king Radius of Solaria. They got divorced sometime during season 1, as Stella told Musa and Bloom. It’s also clear that they had been distant while raising her. Even though she tried to hide it, the divorce hurt her a lot, and she initially hoped they would get back together.

Throughout the show, her parents wouldn’t acknowledge Stella’s hurt over their divorce and their constant arguing. In season 5 she confronted them about it and discussed it with them. That’s also when it becomes clear that she knows she can’t make them get along or get back together, but that they should make an effort to respect her emotions, nonetheless. In season 8, episode 17, it is clear she is still hurt over their separation but loves them both and they love her, too.

In the first season of the show, Stella helps Bloom leave Gardenia and takes her to Magix, to attend Alfea with Stella. She is also heavily targeted by the Trix who want to steal the power they think is hidden in her scepter. Later, once Bloom loses her powers, Stella is always by her side and is supporting her. It is no surprise that the two are best friends.

During the second season, Stella is one of the three Winx fairies to go underground and attempt to save the pixies from Lord Darkar’s clutches. Her boyfriend, Brandon, falls down a ravine and Stella jumps after him. The two make it out alive, but she is weakened and sick due to not getting enough sunlight. In addition, Brandon is held hostage and forced into marriage by princess Amentia, of the underground kingdom Downland. Stella unwillingly leaves him behind and makes her way to the surface in order to regain strength. Fueled by heartbreak and spite, she then stops at nothing until he is saved.

At the start of the third season, Stella’s father holds a princess’ ball for her, a celebration which symbolizes her inclusion into the royal society. He also mentions he has an announcement to make, and thinks it will make Stella very happy. This leaves her to think that her parents are getting back together. Instead, her father is planning on getting remarried. It turns out his future wife, countess Cassandra, is working for the evil wizard Valtor, who has given her the power to put Stella’s father under her control. At the ball, Stella ends up being turned into a monster and her father is enchanted to make the guards hunt her down. During the season, Stella hears of her planet and her father slowly falling under Cassandra’s rule, which fills her with anger and motivates her.

She earns her Enchantix by saving her father after he is left defenseless against raging dragons, however she is forced to flee before she can break Cassandra’s spell. She later returns to Solaria and frees her father and her kingdom.

In the fifth season of the show, Stella decides to pursue her dream of becoming a fashion designer by designing the Winx’s outfits and putting on a few fashion shows. In the sixth season, she opens a boutique in her Alfea dorm room. It is originally kept secret from the faculty, but Griselda later approves it.

Over the last 20 years, Stella has been here to keep the Winx Club looking the best they can while saving the world(s). To look major while kicking major butt, in other words. She is glamourous; she adores shopping and keeps up with all the latest trends in fashion. As Aisha said, she can’t live without malls and glamour magazines. However, beyond the fabulous clothes and the golden hair is a golden heart. She will be there for any of her friends to support them and cheer them up when it gets tough. When she falls, she will get up again, stronger and more stubborn than before. She will fight to protect who she cares for until she literally passes out. She is a friend we all need.
