*Note: Bloom’s home planet, Domino, is called “Sparks” in this movie, as the dubbing was done by a different company than the ones who dubbed the first three seasons of the show. For consistency, the name “Domino” will be used regardless.
The movie begins after the events of season 3. The Winx go to the castle of Hagen, the swordsmith of the Company of Light. He is hostile upon first meeting them, but after Faragonda confirms Bloom is indeed the princess of Domino, he agrees to come to Alfea and help her. Once at the school, he is unable to give her any new information regarding her biological parents.
As the rest of the Winx fairies get ready for their graduation, they have completed three years at Alfea and earned their Enchantix so they are proclaimed the guardian fairies of their respective planets. Since Bloom’s planet was destroyed, she cannot become one and watches the ceremony from afar.
Bloom returns to Gardenia and spends some time with her adoptive parents. While there, Daphne comes to her in a dream, telling her to go to the Secret Library of Domino and find the Book of Fate, which contains all their family history. The next morning, she rushes to tell her parents about it but ends up surprised and delighted when she sees the Winx and the Specialists have all come to Earth to celebrate her birthday. She shares the news with them and they all agree to help her.
When she tells her friends about her belief in the search, the power of Domino starts to awaken. This alerts the three ancestral witches in another dimension, so they send their servant, Mandragora, to destroy it.
On Domino the group of fairies and Specialists have to calm down the mythical bird, the Roc, before they can find the Library. With the bird calm, they enter it safely. With the help of Lord Bartelby, who is guarding the book, Bloom learns her parents have disappeared in the Obsidian cave. She also hears the prophecy about her destiny. While this is happening, Riven falls under Mandragora’s control and starts spying and sabotaging his friends.
Back at Alfea, Faragonda explains that the Obsidian Circle is an entrance to the Obsidian Dimension. It is a dimension of pain and fear, a place where the ancestral witches were first created.
They have little time to process that information, as Mandragora attacks Alfea. Her armada of insects wrecks the entire school. In the end, she is stopped by the Winx and Faragonda. The headmistress lands the final blow, sending the witch back to the abyss. Afterwards, the Winx, their bonded pixies, and Alfea’s teachers magically rebuild the school together.
According to Faragonda, staying in Obsidian corrupts people with negative energy, causing them to become evil. Despite knowing this, Aisha, Musa, Flora, Stella, and Tecna all decide to accompany Bloom once she decides to go there. Their boyfriends come with them as well.
Mandragora awaits them at the entrance and uses Riven to lock it once the Winx have all gone inside Obsidian. All but Musa. Sky goes to fight Riven. Musa jumps between them to prevent Sky from getting killed and Riven hurts her instead. The Specialists and Musa then become Mandragora’s prisoners.
Inside Obsidian, the Winx see King Oritel who has been turned to stone, along with all of the other people of Domino. The king’s sword, however, still shines with the energy of his planet. The witches begin to taunt the Winx, so they attempt to fight back. However, the negative energy of the dimension has drained their powers and they faint, except for Bloom, who seems to be immune to it.
On the other side of the portal, Riven snaps out of Mandragora’s influence and frees his friends. He also opens the portal to Obsidian again. Seizing the chance, Sky goes in to help the Winx. By now, even Bloom’s powers have grown weak. Since he became the king of Eraklyon, he attempts to wield the sword of King Oritel, which can only be held by a truly pure-hearted king. Unfortunately, the sword’s energy knocks him unconscious.
Bloom starts to lose hope but is consoled by Daphne who unites her powers with Bloom’s. The two sisters attempt to fight the witches, but they have united their powers as well and are now inhabiting Mandragora’s body. Bloom and her sister appear to be too weak against all of them. Just when everything seems to be lost, Sky pierces the witches and Mandragora with the king’s sword. At the same time, Bloom hits them with the combined power of her and Daphne, destroying the witches and the whole Obsidian dimension, as well as freeing the people of Domino from their stone prison.
With this, the planet of Domino becomes as it once was: warm, lush with greenery, and filled with life. King Oritel and Queen Marion become free as well, able to embrace their daughters once again. The royal family of Domino becomes united. In that honour, a celebration is held, where both Bloom’s families are present and rejoice. As all of the Winx dance with their partners, Sky proposes to Bloom. The credits roll after the Winx are declared the new Company of Light.
