This season starts with an invitation from Solaria. Stella gets invited to a Princess Ball which the royal court is holding in her honour. Her father, King Radius, specified he has an announcement to make during it. Stella assumes her parents are getting back together and invites the rest of the Winx and the Specialists to come with her.
At the same time, the Trix get sent to the prison for the worst criminals of the Magic Dimension which is called the “Omega Dimension”. The entrance of the prison is located on the planet Andros. The ice shells meant to keep the Trix trapped and dormant break under Icy’s magic, and they roam the prison for a while, evading the creatures that guard it. They end up freeing a criminal named Valtor in the process. By combining their powers, the four of them break out easily. With that, Valtor’s attack on the Magic Dimension begins. Andros is the first on the agenda.
Solaria is the second. As the preparations for the Princess Ball are underway, Valtor absorbs the power of the second Sun of Solaria in order to grow stronger. He is aided by Stella’s soon-to-be stepmother, Countess Cassandra and her daughter Chimera. In return, he makes them more powerful. At the Ball, Chimera turns Stella into a monster and Cassandra bewitches King Radius. He is forced to believe the monster isn’t his daughter and to order the guards to capture Stella. She and the rest of the Winx and the Specialists manage to escape them.
To break the spell, they all go to find the Mirror of Truth. When Stella tries to use it by herself, it doesn’t work, but with her friends’ love and when Brandon expresses how he feels about her regardless of her looks she is returned to her usual self. Meanwhile, on Andros, the mermaids get turned into Valtor’s monsters and Aisha grows more and more worried. Before long, she and the Winx go there to try and stop him. Stella stays at Alfea due to being too stressed about the situation on Solaria, as well as to cover for her friends.
On Andros, when Valtor appears, Aisha jumps between him and Bloom and confronts him. He puts a spell on her which makes her blind, which disturbs her deeply. After that, he leaves. The Winx promise never to abandon her. The troubles don’t end there. The princess of mermaids, Tressa, asks for Aisha’s help saving her mother, Queen Ligea, from the underwater prison Valtor put her in. She and the other Winx jump into action, fighting a kraken along the way.
They save the queen and she says the gem of her scepter can heal Aisha’s eyes, once the last rays of twilight are gathered in it. They rush to get to the surface before the Sun sets. Along the way, the kraken strikes the queen and she faints. It is presumed she begins to die. Aisha uses the rays of twilight to heal her, rather than herself. By doing so, she earns her Enchantix powers. She becomes a true fairy by saving someone who comes from her home planet.
Back at Alfea, Faragonda explains that Enchantix comes with fairy dust, a substance used to dispel dark magic. With it, Aisha restores her own sight.
Valtor keeps stealing the most powerful spells from different planets, growing stronger each day. Faragonda and the rest of the teachers put Alfea under lockdown, for fear of him stealing theirs. While at the library, the headmistress tells Bloom more about her biological parents and Valtor.
When the Great Dragon created the Magical Dimension, a piece of his fire fell into the darkness and mixed with it. It was found by the ancestral witches who then shaped it into a man named Valtor. They raised him to conquer the Magic Dimension.
Queen Marion and King Oritel formed the Company of Light. The Company was created to fight against the forces of evil. Faragonda, Griffin, and Saladin were also its members. They fought Valtor and won, but paid a high price. Marion and Oritel used all their power to seal him away in the Omega Dimension and were never seen again.
Learning this sparks a fire in Bloom, though she’s bothered by not being able to earn her Enchantix since no one from her home planet seems to have survived.
The troubles continue even as the Winx travel to Eraklyon where Sky’s parents are hosting a party. Princess Disapro works with Valtor to make Sky love her and have the guards go after the Winx, who were invited to the event but are now forced to flee. Among the chaos, King Radius is attacked by a dragon and saved by Stella, who then earns Enchantix.
Valtor goes after the members of the Company of Light. First, he takes over Cloud Tower and makes its students his servants and Griffin his prisoner. Then, he defeats Faragonda, turning her into a tree. At the same time, Musa saves princess Galatea of Melody from a fire in the Alfea library, caused by the Trix and becomes an Enchantix fairy.
Afterwards, the Winx go to Linphea to find a way to save their headmistress. While there, Flora’s sister, Miele, is nearly lost in the water that reverses time. Flora jumps in to save her and earns Enchantix, as well. Upon returning to the school, the Winx use the water they got to return Faragonda to her true form.
On Andros, the portal to the Omega Dimension is releasing more and more negative energy. This is destroying both the Omega Dimension and Andros. It also could destroy the entire Magic Dimension. When they cannot seal the portal shut, they attempt to destroy it, though they are unsuccessful. After that, Tecna walks into the portal to destroy it herself. Since doing so helps save every planet, she earns Enchantix. The achievement is soured by the fact that she is sucked into the Omega Dimension with no way out. Her friends despair and grieve losing her.
Amidst the grief, Faragonda sends Bloom off to Pyros, the Island of Dragons. There she is supposed to gain great power, but there is no guarantee that she will survive. By learning to be a dragon and mixing her essence with the one of Pyros, she gains her Enchantix. However, because it came from her own willpower, and not from saving someone from her own planet, it is unstable and incomplete.
Meanwhile, Timmy has been trying to get in touch with Tecna for days, never giving up. He finally manages to hear her messages for help from the Omega Dimension. With her new powers and knowledge, she managed to survive the prison’s cold climate and create food out of ice, as well as make a transmitter to contact Timmy. The Winx and the Specialists go inside the dimension and help her escape, bringing her back to Alfea.
After that, a mysterious man appears. He looks to be following Aisha. At the same time, the Winx search for a way to defeat the Dragon’s Flame, in order to defeat Valtor. Tecna tells them about a force opposite the one of the Dragon, which is contained in the Water Stars. Together, the Winx Club and the Specialists go to the Golden Kingdom, a place where they are kept.
On the way to the Kingdom, Aisha’s stalker is discovered as a stowaway on the Specialists’ ship. They decide to put him in a cell since they can’t tell what his intentions are. After Aisha accidentally becomes trapped with him in a cell they begin to bond over their favourite song. At the entrance to the Kingdom, the group gets attacked and he proves himself to be trustworthy. It turns out he’s actually the man his parents arranged for her to marry, named “Nabu”.
Once at the Golden Kingdom, the Winx enter a maze. Inside, each of them has to make a personal sacrifice in order to obtain the Water Stars. They have to choose between losing what is dear to them and the salvation of the Magic Dimension. In the end, they obtain them and the sacrifices are mostly nullified.
The Winx go to Cloud Tower once again, after Bloom has an idea to talk to the three ancestral witches about what happened to her biological parents. They tell her that her parents are alive, but reside in a far away dimension.
After the Trix tease him about being weak, Valtor unleashes the Spell of the Elements. He sends each element to the three schools, as well as Magix. The Winx stop him by destroying his collection of stolen spells. Before he can be destroyed for good, the elements return to their normal state and everyone has to make a run for it or risk drowning.
As his final attempt at beating the Winx, Valtor abducts the Specialists except Helia, who he sends to deliver the message to them. Upon meeting with Valtor, each of the Winx finds their boyfriend trapped in some way. They all turn out to be clones and the Winx must fight them. During fighting the clone of Sky, Bloom sends an attack directly to Valtor which makes all the clones disappear. In order to destroy him once and for all, the Winx help Bloom extinguish the very fire Valtor was made of.
