Roxy- Fairy of Animals

In the fourth season of Winx Club, we are introduced to Roxy, the fairy of animals. She is originally from the Earth, more specifically, from the city Gardenia, which makes her the first actual Earth fairy of the show. She initially lives only with her human father Klaus and their dog Artu. Her mother, queen of the Earth fairies, Morgana, eventually joins them.

Roxy was unaware of her fairy powers while growing up. When she was a child, her mother, Morgana, had been attacked and captured by the Wizards of the Black Circle. The Wizards then erased every memory of her from her family and friends’ minds. Roxy grew up being loved nonetheless.

At the start of season 4, she works at the Frutti Music Bar to help her father. Once the Winx open the pet shop Love & Pet, she uses their website to adopt more pets than is allowed per person. She also loves taking care of stray and helpless animals.

Once she is confronted with the existence of fairies, as well as the existence of her own fairy powers, she initially rejects it, desperately wanting to be human. She runs away from the Winx and breaks down in tears when she finds herself entangled in a battle between them and the Wizards of the Black Circle. Eventually she comes to terms with her true nature and transforms once her dog Artu gets hurt by one of the Wizards. She appears to be the first fairy to gain Believix as her starting transformation.

During the course of the fourth season, she repeatedly rejects Morgana’s offer to join her in her quest for revenge against humans and the Wizards, especially since it would mean abandoning the rest of the Winx. Even when they are trapped with seemingly no way out, she faces it with them, rather than leaving them and going to safety with Morgana.

In season 5, Roxy is seen attending Alfea, however since she’s younger than the rest of the Winx, she is not in the same classes as them. At the start of season 6, headmistress Faragonda asks for her help with a crow which the other members of the Winx Club found outside of the school. When the crow turns out to be headmistress Griffin, she helps break the spell placed on her. Later in the season, she and some other students, guided by Musa, learn to play musical instruments and harness the power of music to protect Alfea from attacks.

Roxy is present quite a lot in season 7 of Winx Club. The Winx go around the Magic Dimension and Earth in order to protect the animals on its different planets. She is responsible for communicating with them. With the help of her technomagic globes, and little birds called yaffles, she tells her friends which animals are in danger, where, and when. Despite her crucial role, she doesn’t earn her Butterflix power along with the other Winx fairies. However, when the Winx open an animal rescue park at Gardenia, she starts working there.

As we mentioned before, there have been many discussions about Roxy’s status in Winx Club. This is mostly due to the fact that, after season 4, she doesn’t spend time with the rest of the members regularly. During season 5, she is mostly present as a background character, while in season 6, she appears briefly to help break the spell placed upon Headmistress Griffin and later becomes one of the students who learn to play musical instruments with Musa’s guidance. Finally, season 7 places her in a more prominent role, while in season 8 she is nowhere to be found.

Despite the lack of inclusion across the seasons, a lot of fans consider her to be a member of the Winx Club. This was officially confirmed at Comicon Napoli 2024 by Iginio Straffi. He clarified that Roxy is a Winx fairy who decided to stay on Earth due to its environmental issues.

Even though Roxy hasn’t been a member of the Winx Club for as long as the others have, she is still beloved by many fans. As is evident, she is a huge animal-lover, emotional, impulsive, stubborn, compassionate, and kind. She is dedicated and loyal, and she will blast you with magic if you dare to attack animals or her friends. We first met her when she was a lost human girl on Earth. Over the years, we have loved seeing her become a strong and powerful fairy.
