Musa

Musa- Fairy of Music

Musa is the Winx Club’s very own fairy of music who hails from the planet called Melody. (AKA the “Harmonic Nebula” or the “Harmonic Realm ” in the 4kids dub). During seasons 1 – 5, her bonded pixie was Tune, the minifairy of good manners. (according to a version of the official Winx Club website from 2009) In season 6, that was changed. She is currently bonded with Cherie, the minifairy of weather, with no explanation given for this change.

At an early age, Musa suffered the loss of her mother, Matlin. Musa misses her mother very much and often thinks of her while playing music, especially her mother’s favourite songs. Both of her parents deeply loved music and were professional musicians. Despite not making a lot of money, they kept performing. However, once Musa’s mother became ill, they didn’t have enough money for medicine. This led her father, Ho-Boe, to give up music completely and never play another note again. Fearing the same thing would happen to Musa, he initially tried to make her give up her dream of becoming a singer. He eventually saw how much music meant to her and is now supportive of Musa pursuing it.

From the very beginning, Musa is shown to be very emotional and sensitive, despite her tough appearance. This is especially evident once she starts liking Riven, who appears to like Darcy instead. Throughout the first season, we see Musa grappling with her feelings for Riven, which is made harder as he appears to show no interest in her. She also openly talks about losing her mother with the other Winx girls once she feels comfortable enough.

Music flows through every aspect of Musa’s life. During the first season, she can be seen using her flute as a tool for casting spells, while in the second season, she performs a song about her feelings about her mother, which enables her father to understand her dreams of becoming a singer. She also bonds with Aisha over their mutual love for dancing. Despite being seemingly polar opposite of her, Musa’s best friend and roommate is Tecna, according to the official Winx Club website.

Musa isn’t afraid to express her feelings and speak her mind. She is also prone to giving sarcastic remarks. In the third season of the show, she refuses to leave princess Galatea behind in order to save herself from the fire that is surrounding both of them. By doing that, she earns her Enchantix power.

During the 20 years of Winx Club, Musa has never given up on her dream, no matter what stands in her way. This is especially evident in the show’s fourth season, where a music producer offers her a chance to pursue a music career. Despite the lack of support from Riven, a broken heart, and the amount of time it took her to get a shot at “making it big”, Musa kept pushing, always driven by the music in her heart.

During the sixth season of the show, Musa finds an abandoned room in Alfea and decides to turn it into a music café. Along the way, she manages to teach some younger students how to play various instruments. Her ellation and success suddenly come to a stop when her voice gets stolen, which causes her to despair. However, once Alfea gets attacked by witches, she and the students harness the power of music to create a shield around it and prevent any damage.

Since the first season, Musa and Riven’s relationship had been fluctuating. Their personalities would often clash, along with their expectations of each other, which lead to multiple arguments and breakups. However, every once in a while, they would be seen genuinely caring and loving each other, willing to work through their differences. During the sixth season, the couple decided to be friends and break up amicably, acknowledging that they understand each other, but are better as friends than as a couple. However, over the course of season 8, Riven tries to prove to Musa he has changed and eventually they get back together.

Musa is emotional and creative, driven and passionate. She is also sassy and impulsive. She is a wonderful person who will always stand by her friends and support them, whether by listening to them or verbally destroying their enemies.
